About the Founder

Katy has 8 years of experience as a qualified Music Therapist/Educator in the Early Intervention and Special Education field.

She graduated from the University of Kansas in 2012 with a BME - Music Therapy (Hons) under the Midwest Student Exchange Scholarship award. Following which, she passed her CBMT in 2013 prior to moving to Singapore. Katy expanded creative therapy services at Thye Hua Kwan Moral Charities, EIPIC Centre for 5 years as their Senior Music Therapist. There she championed implementing clinical services, using a behavior method to record each student's individual progress. In 2017, Katy was a Key-Note Speaker on the National Institute of Education (NIE) Care Panel for "Music Therapy and Special Needs.”

Believing that music impacts a wide variety of people, Katy joined Extra Ordinary People, a registered charity (IPC) in the East as their first music therapist. She expanded her scope of practice from EIPIC (ages 0 - 6) to Primary students and Adults with developmental delays. Katy served alongside a multi-disciplinary treatment team of Psychology, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Dance and Movement Therapy, and Art Therapy.

Katy founded Medley Plus in 2021. She currently provides private home-based therapy services for the Greater Singapore community. She resonates with a play-based, creative approach to therapy. This focuses on the belief that every child has the innate ability to respond to music, where clients take an active role in creating music together with their therapist.
